Hitachi Power Semiconductor Devices Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi Group, recently reached an important cooperation agreement with Sagar Semiconductors (abbreviated as Sagar Semis). These two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at jointly promoting the marketing of IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) and high-power devices, while also working together to transfer silicon carbide (SIC), new product development (NPD), and high-voltage diode technology.
At the signing ceremony of this memorandum, Kedar Reddy, the Managing Director of Sagar Semis, and Hirotaka Wakamatsu, the Head of Business Development for Hitachi Power Semiconductor Devices, were both present.
A senior official from Sagar Semi shared their ambition: "We plan to establish a high-voltage semiconductor production plant specifically designed for the automotive industry. HPSD has promised to consider providing technical support related to the manufacturing process of these high-voltage equIPMent from start to finish."
In addition, HPSD will also be responsible for training employees of this company located in Hyderabad, which will involve teams in India and Japan. The planned annual production capacity of the factory will reach 100 million pieces.
"Our planned factory will cover the manufacturing and packaging processes of equipment, making it one of the first semiconductor factories in India to achieve end-to-end integration (from front-end to back-end)," the senior official said.
The two companies will collaborate to develop emerging technology solutions suitable for the Indian market, with a focus on key areas such as white goods, energy storage solutions, and railways.
The Managing Director of Kedar Reddy at Sagar Semi emphasized that the core purpose of this collaboration is to "cultivate local manufacturing capabilities and technical skills through the development of new products, enhance technological capabilities, and strengthen India's ecosystem in the semiconductor and power electronics fields."
Hirotaka Wakamatsu also expressed his view: "Both sides will jointly explore various cooperation plans suitable for the Indian market."
Faust Technology focuses on four major fields: new energy vehicles, electric new energy, household appliances, and touch displays, providing customers with one-stop services from solution research and development to product selection and procurement. It has represented multiple brands such as Hitachi and is an electronic component supplier and solution provider with core technology.
