Semiconductor market research firm TechInsights recently released a list of the top 25 global semiconductor suppliers for 2023, with TSMC ranking first. NVIDIA's supply surged by 102%, and it surged to fourth place due to artificial intelligence GPU chips. It ranks in the top five alongside Intel, Samsung, and Qualcomm, and its sales need to reach around $5.9 billion to enter the list. In terms of origin, the United States accounts for 13 out of the top 25, followed by Europe, Japan, and Taiwan. In addition, there are two in South Korea and one in Chinese Mainland.
According to reports from semiconductor research firm Techinsights, the revenue of TSMC, ranked first in 2023, decreased by 9% year-on-year to $69.276 billion, while Intel, ranked second, saw a significant decrease of 14% to $51.505 billion, surpassing Intel. Due to the impact of its storage chip business, Samsung's revenue, ranked third, decreased by 34% year-on-year to $48.363 billion.
By contrast, Nvidia, ranked fourth, was the semiconductor manufacturer with the fastest revenue growth in 2023. Its revenue surged 102% year-on-year, reaching $49.6 billion, driving its ranking from 8th in 2022 to 4th in 2023. The surge in revenue was mainly due to the huge increase in demand for AI GPUs for data center servers.
Qualcomm, ranked fifth, saw a 16% year-on-year decline in revenue in 2023 to $30.913 billion, mainly due to the global smartphone market downturn in 2023.
According to the report, looking at the 2023 Global Top 25 Semiconductor Supplier List, it can be seen that due to the decline in global semiconductor market demand in 2023, only a few Top 25 manufacturers, such as Nvidia, Infineon, STMicroelectronics, NXP, Sony, and Microchip, achieved year-on-year revenue growth. These manufacturers mainly benefit from the strong demand from the automotive chip market, while Sony partially benefits from the growth in demand in the high-end smartphone market.
From the headquarters of the top 25 manufacturers, 13 of them are headquartered in the United States; There are three each in Europe, Taiwan, and Japan; There are two companies in South Korea; There is one SMIC International in Chinese Mainland. It is worth noting that the Top 25 list includes foundries, as they are used to compare the annual sales of semiconductor companies rather than market share rankings. Faust Technology focuses on four major fields: new energy vehicles, electric new energy, household appliances, and touch displays, providing customers with one-stop services from solution research and development to semiconductor product selection and procurement. It is a semiconductor component supplier and solution provider with core technology.
