Nexperia announced that its 650V, 10A silicon carbide (SIC) Schottky diode has passed automotive certification (model PSC1065H-Q) and is packaged in a true dual pin (R2P) DPAK (TO-252-2) package. This makes it suitable for various electric vehicles and other automotive applications.

In addition, Nexperia has expanded its product range by introducing industrial grade SiC diodes with current levels of 6A, 16A, and 20A. These devices offer TO-220-2, TO-247-2, and D2PAK-2 packaging options, providing more design flexibility. These diodes are designed to meet the needs of high voltage and high current applications, such as switch mode power supplies, AC-DC and DC-DC converters, battery charging infrastructure, motor drives, uninterruptible power supplies, and photovoltaic inverters for sustainable energy production.

The combined PiN Schottky (MPS) structure of these devices provides significant advantages over similar competing SiC diodes, particularly in terms of resistance to surge currents. By eliminating the need for additional safety circuits, the complexity of the system is greatly reduced. This enables hardware designers to achieve higher efficiency and smaller dimensions in high-power applications. Nexperia's consistent high quality in various semiconductor technology fields ensures the reliability of these diodes by designers.

In addition, Nexperia's "thin SiC" technology reduces the substrate thickness to one-third of its original thickness, significantly reducing the thermal resistance from the junction to the back metal. This leads to lower operating temperatures, improved equIPMent reliability and lifespan, enhanced surge current handling capabilities, and lower forward voltage drops.

The Nexperia report states that its first release of silicon carbide (SiC) diodes has received a highly positive response in the market. They have demonstrated their professional skills in design, with a notable example being power supplies for industrial applications, where customers have achieved outstanding results. The unique reverse recovery characteristics of these diodes have achieved optimal efficiency in practical applications.
